If u are looking for a realy good cpu cooler i would go for the thermalright 120 CPU cool as it has 6 heatpipes and the are doubled around, making 12 total heat pipes been cooled compared to just 6. And the cpu face plate has been lapped making better contact with the CPU face when your warrenty has expired on your CPU u might wanna also lap ur CPU face for better contact.

I think I paid less than $80 for my Xigmatek Red Scorpion, so far it's been great, the cpu never goes over 65 degrees, even when it's running at 100%.
The original stock cooler was shit, and it would hit like 80-90 degrees when it was running at less than 80%, but that was in the middle of summer aswell.

clean the dust out of ur case and make sure u dont keep it on the floor, keep it on ur desk or somethin. stock cooler is enough so long as ur not overclocking and u dont live in central Aus haha.

CPU Cooler Empty tips

Post by Wildstyle Fri Apr 02, 2010 10:04 am

Also:

1. If your case has external air filters ( Eg. mesh with some filter material/felt/sponge stuff behind it) make sure to take it off, clean the mesh and vacuum or do what ever you do to clean the filter or dust will build up and the computer will struggle to run.

2. open up the case every 2-3 months and clean the fan with a vacuum as dust clogs up in it.

3. buy a good fan/cooling system for the PC as stated in above posts.

4. keep your PC in a room with some flow of air. Open a window or bring a fan into the room..or put it in a room with A/C in it.

5. Buy a good case. Not some cheap nasty one that will slow your PCs performance.

6. Do all the Above if you haven't done so yet or in a while!

i have a cheapo alternative that i came across in my poorer days:

Depending on the quality of the case (im assuming its pretty shit) get yourself a pair of tin snips, or some meat-scissors (them chunky hardcore ones) and snip out a 10cmx20cm hole of the left side of the case around the area CPU, use a hammer and nail to start the hole off.

What this does is ensure that the air being pulled by your CPU fan is coming from outside, rather than inside the case where its warm. HEADS UP: dont take off the whole side of the case, it completely wrecks your airflow and u will get higher temps than usual...

when i did this my CPU dropped by around 6 degrees load. its a good method for cheap, quick fixes to a bad case.
